Insurance Guidelines

RNLF Counseling Services accepts most private health insurance plans including a large number of insurance carriers in the Bayou Health Network.  Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Dealing with insurance plans can be challenging, especially when you are already stressed and worried about mental health issues you or a loved one are experiencing. 

The first thing to find out is what mental health benefits your insurance policy offers. Review your insurance policy so that you are clear about whether your policy includes coverage for mental health services, types of services that are covered and the amount paid for these services, and any steps you must take to have treatment covered. The following are some questions you will want to ask your insurance company, if possible, before starting treatment:

•  Do I need a referral from my primary care physician to a mental health professional?

•  Do I need any pre-approval from the insurance company before I see a mental health professional?

• Do I need to see a mental health professional who is on a list provided by my insurance company (in a "network") or am I free to choose any qualified professional?

• Does the amount paid by my insurance company depend on whether I see a professional who is "in their network or preferred provider list" or "outside the network"? If so, what is the difference in the amount paid or percent reimbursement for "in network" vs. "out of network" providers?

• Are there dollar limits, visit limits or other coverage limits for my mental health benefits? Is there a difference in what is paid for outpatient vs. inpatient treatment? If so, what are my benefits for each of these?
• Is there a specific list of diagnoses for which services are covered? If so, is my diagnosis one of those covered by my policy?
• What prescription benefit does my policy offer? What are the co-pays for medications? Are there different levels of prescription coverage depending on the specific medication? Do co-payments vary depending on whether the medication is generic or name brand?

Payment

RNLF Counseling Services offers quality counseling at a very low cost. It is not necessary to have insurance to use our services.  RNLF Counseling Services is a certified Louisiana Behavioral Health Partnership Provider and accepts most insurers to offer the best possible services.  RNLF Counseling Services will customize a payment plan based on your individual needs.  Cash, check and all major credit cards accepted for payment.

To all underinsured or uninsured individuals in need of services who do not have health insurance, we provide free short-term counseling to underinsured or uninsured people in need of services. Up to 2 free sessions are offered.  There afterwards charges on a sliding scale will be required.  All fees are paid directly to the agency.

To the insured individuals please present your health insurance card to the sign-in desk or cashier desk staff so that we may save it to your record. At that point, all charged services, such as assessments and counseling services, will be automatically filed to that plan on your behalf. 

Out-of-Pocket Clients:

For those clients who choose not to use their coverage, the standard fee is $125 per session. The initial assessment intake appointment is $200. A number of sliding-scale openings may be available, however, based on client need and therapist availability

Cancellation Policy: 

Appointsments cancelled without a 24 hour notice will be subjet to a $ 25.00 fee.
